Beginner Video Lessons
Free, short videos from Mr. Smith's YouTube channel (Alan Smith, a band teacher). Each playlist starts at the very beginning: putting the instrument together, holding it, making the first sounds and playing the first five notes, then a few easy songs. Pick your instrument to open its playlist, and come back any time you need a refresher.

- Solati™: a listening game, free in any web browser. Tap the colored bars to hear the notes, do through ti (with optional high do). Then listen to the pattern the computer plays and tap it back in the same order. A wrong note costs a life, and you get five. See how long a pattern you can remember! No download or account needed.
Note Reading
Note Identification from musictheory.net. A note appears on the staff and you click its letter name. Pick your instrument; each link opens the exercise already set up for that instrument's clef and note range.
